My formal education began because my cousin would not stop crying. She was starting primary school. Every morning her mother walked her to class, and every morning she cried until the one thing that worked: her little housemate sitting beside her.
Me. I was four.
I was not enrolled. I was not on any list. I sat there for two months until the principal told my mother, "You might as well just enroll him."
The Accidental Partner was about fifteen years inside a consulting firm. After it came out, readers kept asking the same question. Where did you learn all this before consulting?
This book is my answer. Most of it I did not learn in the rooms I chose. I learned it behind a shop counter in Jakarta, watching men buy cigarettes three sticks at a time. In a winter in Evanston, shovelling snow for a woman I barely knew. In the years before anyone was paying me to have an opinion.
Same style as the first book. Short chapters. More chapters. No frameworks. New stories.
